DIY Laser Crafts for Valentine’s Day

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I’ve had so much fun over the years crafting for holidays. While I don’t go overboard for the single day celebrations, I do like to add a few accents, a pop of color, or handmade creations.

Having a laser really opens up your creative avenues and that’s what I’ll be focusing on below. Whether you’re selling your goods or creating gifts, you’ll get some ideas to be creative for the sweetest holiday.

If you love this list and want to check back for updates, be sure to save or share this page. Either will make it easy to find when you’re ready for inspiration.

I own three types of lasers right now: CO2, diode, and fiber (infrared). Below are summaries of each and suggestions on materials. If you have questions, please ask! Not all lasers are right for those looking to start a business or side hustle. If that’s you, choose the P2 or the S1.

  • xTool P Series – A fully-enclosed CO2 laser, perfect for cutting acrylic and wood. This is an unrestricted laser when it comes to acrylic, wood, slate, etc. and it’s my top choice.
  • xTool S1 – The option I have is a 40 watt diode laser which cuts some acrylic, wood and does amazing engravings. This laser has some acrylic restrictions (no clear, mirror, translucent; primarily opaque) but powers through wood.
  • xTool M1 ULTRA – The updated version of the ground-breaking xTool M1 shows up to the party with a printer (can print on wood), a laser, a set of blades, foil, and embossing, as well as a pen tool. Great for crafters!
  • xTool F2 – This dual laser is portable! It’s the best-selling, landmark setting laser that contains a diode and an infrared laser. It’s perfect to take to shows, markets, and events.
  • WeCreat Vista – This is a fun tool to have if you’d like to work primarily with tumblers or wood. The patented FlipLaser design turns the laser head 90 degrees, allowing you a great tumbler engraving experience.

In order to keep this organized, you’ll find a few sections below. If you love making something or have a best-seller and it’s not listed below, leave a comment and I’ll add it for everyone. Remember: a rising tide lifts ALL boats. :)

Valentine Laser Projects for Kids and Classroom Gifts

One of the most popular areas for this holiday is to focus on the little ones. Classroom Valentine swaps and teacher’s gifts for Valentine’s Day are not only sweet, they can be big movers in a shop.

Laser Scrap Projects for Valentine’s Day

If you’re anything like me, you’re sitting on a TON of materials scraps after the holiday season. Instead of keeping them stashed away (where I will absolutely forget about them), I make a few of the following.

  • pocket hugs
  • keychains – paired hearts keychains and puzzle piece keychains are popular
  • stud earrings
  • dangle earrings like these quick score and laser cut heart earrings (free SVG bundle)
  • charms (be sure to get a variety of jump rings and connectors)
  • ornament accents or shaker ornament filler

These fun earrings are a fast score and cut project and can be made with any diode or CO2 laser.

Valentine Laser Cut Gift Ideas

Sometimes, sticking to the basics is so fun and these laser cut ideas for Valentine’s Day are just the thing. You can pre-cut and assemble most of these and add on personalization later, if desired. These could combine cutting and engraving.

  • frames – plain or shaped, these can be big movers
  • anniversary items – I honestly didn’t know there were so many people engaged or married on Valentine’s Day!
  • bouquet charms and bouquet stakes – these are added to a flower arrangement and are great personalized add-ons (you can see here what a laser cut bouquet charm looks like)
  • holiday-themed door signs
  • puzzles (take any image and use these puzzle and jigsaw SVG as overlays)
  • wooden flowers for a permanent bouquet
  • tiered tray sets
  • Valentine’s Day ornaments (also a gift tag) – EVERYONE loved this one

Laser Engraved Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Whether laser cut and prepped in advance or done on the spot at a craft fair with the xTool F1 or F1 Ultra, personalized gifts are perfect for the holiday. Here are a few ideas:

  • jewelry: pendant (some lasers might need marking spray)
  • jewelry: earrings
  • jewelry: rings
  • frames with dates or sentimental notes
  • matching keychains with dates or notes

  • laser cut acrylic drink stirrers
  • basket tags and gift tags – The trend of creating basket gifts for holidays is HUGE and you can capitalize on it by making some easy basket tags
  • cupcake or cake toppers and cake charms (here’s how to DIY acrylic cake toppers)

  • shelf sitters or small indoor hangers
  • paint kits for a holiday keepsake – Engraved designs on a canvas or wood paint kits are both great beginner projects to make for holidays.
