Wine Cork Apple Craft
Whip up some adorable cork apples using recycled corks, felt, a stick, and a hot glue gun. Paint them for a vibrant look or leave them natural for a neutral, farmhouse fall craft idea.
Materials
- Recycled Corks (19 large, 10 medium, 7 small)
- Felt Scraps (for Leaves)
- Ribbon Scraps
- Twig or Stick (from the Yard) or Cork for Stem
- Paint (optional)
- Printable Template
Tools
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
- Wire Cutters or Branch Cutter
Instructions
- Print the apple template, if using. Decide on the size apple(s) to make - large, medium, and small. Follow the recommendations for each row count. The rows for each are small apple: 2, 3, 2; medium apple: 2, 3, 3, 2; large apple: 3, 4, 5, 4, 3.
- Glue each cork together to form an individual row.
- Glue all rows together following the template.
- If painting, paint each of the cork ends with red paint and let dry. Note: skip this step if leaving the corks natural.
- Cut the branch, if using, into 1-2 inch sections to form the apple stem. Glue to the top of each apple.
- Use scissors to cut out a leaf shape (included in the template) from felt. Pinch the bottom of the leaf together, add glue, and let dry to create a dimensional leaf. Glue to the side of the stem and tie on a ribbon.
Notes
For a more natural look, leave the wine corks unpainted or use a light stain to color the ends instead of paint.
Tie on a gift certificate to the cork apple for a back to school or teacher appreciate gift idea.
