DIY Jewelry Box Pumpkins

Below you’ll find the step by step for these cute pumpkins. Keep this page open and follow along. If you’re going to host a craft night, you might want to print this page out.

First, paint the pumpkins in various shades of your choice. We used oranges, but some muted greens would be gorgeous. Let them dry.

Next, glue the top of the boxes to their corresponding bottoms so they don’t move around and add a stem of some kind to the center top of each box.

Glue the two smaller boxes together, side by side. Glue the large box to the back of them.

To hold them in place and add a cute detail, tie them up with some twine and add a bow (I used 6 inches of jute). You can see what we did, but find your crafting bliss.

Measure and cut 6 inch sections of ribbon, jute, lace, or whatever you’d like and tie them in a knot around the stem or glue them directly to it.

Materials

  • 1, 3-pack Jewelry Boxes
  • Craft Paint (oranges, or your preference)
  • Jute Twine
  • Wood Stems
  • Ribbon or Lace

Tools

  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

Instructions

  1. Paint both pieces of each jewelry box. We chose a different color of orange (or your preference) for each. Let them dry.
  2. Once the paint is dry, glue the lids to the bottoms.
  3. Glue a wood stem to the center of each box.
  4. Glue the smaller of the two pumpkins together. Glue the larger one to the back of the two smaller ones.
  5. Wrap all three of the pumpkins in jute twine, securing with a knot. We did a series of three, interconnecting but separated ties.
  6. Measure and cut 6" of twine, create a bow, and glue to the wrapped twine.
  7. Measure and cut 6" of various ribbons, jute, or lace and glue or tie onto the stem of each pumpkin.

Notes

You do not have to purchase the wood stems from the dollar store. You can use sticks from your yard, corks, thimbles, or even stacks of buttons.
