Materials Needed for This Easy DIY
Below are the materials I used and you can find everything at the dollar store. If you don’t have pink paint (and don’t want to add it to your craft supplies), use white paint and then a pink marker over top to create the cheeks. Another optional supply are the gems and the sponge dabber (your finger does great in a pinch).
- jumbo craft sticks
- brown and pink paint, paint brush
- white foam
- Googly eyes
- ribbon
- black marker, scissors, glue (or glue gun)
- gingerbread frosting pattern
Instructions for This Christmas Craft Stick DIY
Below are the steps I took to make this fun holiday project. If you would like an offline version without images, scroll down to the bottom of this article and select print.
First, glue the craft sticks together in a gate-style configuration. Lay out 5 jumbo craft sticks and trim a couple of sticks to be glued across the back.
Next, paint the front (back optional) with the brown craft paint. Let dry.
While that’s drying, download and print off the gingerbread frosting printable and cut it out. Trace it onto the craft foam and cut out two pieces per gingerbread.
Adhere two wiggly eyes to each gingerbread and glue on the frosting at the top and bottom of each. Use pink paint to add cheeks and a draw a smile from cheek to cheek with a black marker.
Glue on rhinestone gems, if using, and add a small ribbon bow to each gingerbread. If you would like to make these into ornaments to display them, add a ribbon hanger to the back.
NOTE: to set this up for very young kids, create the craft stick form, glue on the frosting, and use sticky wiggly eyes.
