Tips to Make Santa Cupcakes
- I like to start every cupcake ever with my favorite vanilla cupcake recipe. It’s a no-fail cupcake recipe, so I don’t have to worry about messing it up. And, since this particular fun cupcake decorating idea calls for chocolate cake cupcakes, I just add 1/2 cup of melted chocolate chips or 1/2 cup of cocoa powder and I’m ready to go! Of course, you can use a cake mix or whatever, it doesn’t matter.
- To make a pretty serving tray, you can just put down a layer of brown sugar and then tuck the cupcakes into it. No fuss and easy fun.
- Make sure your cupcakes are cooled completely before you ice them, or you’ll have melted frosting and sad faces.
- Only fill your muffin cups up about 2/3 of the way full. Otherwise, they’ll rise over the edge and be a mess.
- Making these Santa belly cupcakes can be a whole family activity. The kids will love helping to cut the fondant and place it on the belt–and then put the buttons on!
- This recipe calls for making your own buttercream frosting, but the truth is that you don’t have to. You can use canned frosting and just color it, that’s just fine.
