Peach Tea Bombs

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, we adore making hot cocoa bombs. But with the turn in the weather this summer, I just knew a hot cup of cocoa was not going to fly as my friend and I watched the kids play in the pool. Nope, we would want a tall glass of sweet tea for our summer afternoon. So, I broke out the mold and got to work!

Tips to Make Peach Tea Globes

  • Start by snagging a silicone mold here. You can use it for so much more than just tea bombs. I’m talking dessert bombs, hot cocoa bombs, bath bombs. These silicone molds are just awesome.
  • Now, I used isomalt like this, a sugar substitute, to make my tea bombs. You can use sugar, but I like the idea of isomalt because it’s not quite as sweet as sugar and, frankly, the tea packet I use is sweet enough – I don’t need an entire ball of sugar with it. So, either way, you can use the isomalt or sugar, the recipe will work the same way.
  • To keep from getting fingerprints on your beautiful tea globes, one thing I recommend (although I wasn’t able to do because I’m out…sheesh) is to use latex or neoprene gloves when you’re handling them. This will keep your body heat from melting the balls, too while you’re handling them, if you run on the warm side.
  • One thing to remember is that these tea bombs are kind of sticky. So, you do want to work on a piece of parchment paper or other super lint-free surface. If you try to work on a kitchen towel, you will end up with fuzzies on your tea bombs and that will be so uncool. So, take care to use only lint-free tools in your work area.

Fast and easy to make, these peach tea bombs make a creative gift, fun summer drink, and just a cool treat!

Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Isomalt
  • 3 packets Instant Peach Tea
  • 6 Freeze-Dried Peach Slices
  • 1-2 drops Red Gel Food Coloring
  • 3-5 drops Yellow Gel Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine about 2 tbsp of the isomalt with the food coloring and stir. The resulting colored isomalt should be a bright orange. Combine with your remaining isomalt then place all of the isomalt into a small pan or pot over medium-high heat. Stir continuously until the isomalt is completely melted.
  2. Add about 1 1/2 tbsp of the melted isomalt to a mold cavity, using your measuring spoon to gently push the isomalt all around the edges of the mold cavity. Repeat with 5 additional molds. The isomalt is hot, so take care not to touch it. You may want to move the isomalt around in the mold to cover the sides as evenly as possible, but when it starts to cool, stop messing with it.
  3. Place the isomalt-filled molds into the freezer for about 5 minutes to set then remove them and gently peel the mold away from three of the isomalt half-balls.
  4. Place a packet of tea into each of the three isomalt half-balls still in the molds, along with one slice of peach.
  5. Heat a saucepan or skillet over medium-high heat until it’s hot, then turn one of the empty isomalt half-balls over and rub the flat edge onto the bottom of the skillet until it just starts to melt.
  6. Immediately place the heated half-ball on top of one of the filled tea bomb halves. The two sides will seal as the isomalt cools.
  7. To make your tea bombs into tea, just place them in a cup and pour hot water over them. Stir and enjoy! photo collage tutorial of how to make peach tea bombs
