No-Sew Valentines Heart Ornaments
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I love easy Valentine’s crafts because I honestly don’t decorate a lot for it. If I didn’t have a little one in the house, it would probably just be skipped (except for gnomes, of course).
This year, however, we did up a few little pieces to put throughout the house. We started with one heart ornament and well, it was so hard to stop making them! If you have ever picked up a little set of coordinating fabrics, you know how easy it is to just keep going. Let’s get started so you can make some of your own.

Tips to Make Valentines Ornaments
- I used fabric from Riley Blake’s “From the Heart” collection, but if you want to look around I recommend selecting simple cotton fabrics for your Valentines ornaments like these. The way these hearts are assembled, it’s going to look more organic with open seams and that fits with the farmhouse decor.
- I chose to use pinking sheers like these to limit the fraying expected with cotton fabrics and to give it that rustic, easy look.
- When you choose a set of fabrics, get creative with them and really mix and match them. I like to stick to 5 or so, varying the sizes of each so that they can get their day in the sun and work as small accents.
- To make these cute Valentines ornaments into a Valentines garland, tie them onto a piece of twine and display.
- For the very small scraps, consider making a tiny little garland for a tiered tray. It’s so adorable!

No-Sew Valentines Heart Ornaments
These Valentines heart ornaments are such an easy and simple craft that will look perfect in farmhouse, rustic, or shabby chic decor.
Materials
- Variety of Cotton Fabrics
- Variety of Coordinating Ribbon
- Roll of Pearl Bead “Ribbon”
- Roll of Burlap
- Roll of Chicken Wire *optional
- Wood Heart Stickers
- Paper Doily
- Polyfil
- Twine
- Wood Beads, optional
- Heart shaped wood piece or large heart cookie cutter to trace design
- 1 piece cardstock for tracing heart design
- Buttons, optional
Tools
- 1 fabric pin
- Scissors
- Pinking Sheers
- Glue gun and hot glue
- Pencil
Instructions
- With your heart shape or cookie cutter, trace a heart onto the card stock to create a stencil.
- Fold a piece of fabric in half, place the stencil on top leaving ample room on all sides to cut out the heart shape. Pin the stencil and cut two hearts at one time with the pinking shears so that they're identical. Set aside the heart stencil and pin, but keep your two fabric hearts together.
- Hot glue the edges of the heart together, leaving a 1-inch to 1 1/2-inch gap. Allow the hot glue to cool completely. Into the opening, stuff the heart with a bit of Poly-fill. Carefully hot glue the opening closed so your heart is sealed.
- Cut a small portion of beaded ribbon (or other ribbon or twine) about 2-3 inches long. Fold it in half and hot glue it to the back of the heart for hanging.
- Decorate as desired. I had fun cutting pieces of the doily and attaching them with hot glue, making little twine bows, trimming some with pearl beads, others with wood pieces, and so many other things. Take your time layering pieces of fabric, adding buttons and strips of fabric.
- Repeat making as many hearts as you'd like and hang your beautiful creations on a tree, turn them into a Valentines garland, or just hang them about your house.
