Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I believe that any single-day holiday should have crafts that are quick, inexpensive, and easy. This dried flower craft idea definitely falls within those parameters.
You will need the following items for this project, but if you don’t have ferns on hand dried flowers would be gorgeous, too!
- dried mini ferns
- scrapbook paper
- frame (with glass or plastic cover)
- a glue stick which dries clear
- pressed flowers or paper flowers (what I’m using)
You will also need scissors, a pencil, and a small piece of scrap paper.

Dried Flower Valentine’s Day Decor Video
If you’re a visual learner, you can watch the fern heart video tutorial come together on the channel. Included in this video is another fun and easy Valentine’s Day craft, too.

How to Make This Valentine’s Day Craft
First, remove the backing from the frame.
Take the pencil and trace the frame onto the back of the scrapbook paper and cut it out with the scissors.
Use the glue stick to adhere the scrapbook paper to the frame.
Make a heart on scratch paper by folding it in half and using the pencil to draw half a heart. Cut it out with the scissors.
Trace the cut out heart onto the frame backing covered in scrapbook paper.
Sort the mini ferns into sizes and cover the heart with them. I cut some down and trimmed leaves / stems from others.
Use the Elmer’s glue stick to adhere each fern piece to the paper. Let dry completely.
I had no dried flowers on hand, so I placed the fern heart into the frame and glued on a paper flower to the cover. If using dried flowers, place them onto the fern heart before inserting in the frame.
