Magical Mermaid Toast Recipe

Mermaid Toast Ingredients
We had everything on hand for this fun recipe and the ‘mermaid scale’ technique is so easy. The fruit is easily swapped out (my daughter loves adding blueberries).
- 4 pieces of bread, toasted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- violet or purple food coloring (gel works best)
- optional, 2 tablespoons sweetened (or unsweetened) coconut flakes
- optional, 1/2 banana
- 2 decorating bags (icing) or 2 top-sealing plastic bags
- offset spatula or butter knife
If you have a little mermaid lover who happens to be having a birthday, I recommend topping this mermaid toast with a few small sprinkles. These mermaid sprinkles are mer-tastic.

This mermaid toast recipe is so easy, I can barely call it a recipe at all. The little ones LOVE to get involved in making this, so get the kids in the kitchen to whip up this sweet treat. You will need toast, fruit, cream cheese, and any extras like sweetened coconut or sprinkles. Ingredients
- 4 pieces of bread, toasted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- violet or purple food coloring (gel works best)
- optional, 2 tablespoons sweetened (or unsweetened) coconut flakes
- optional, 1/2 banana
- 2 decorating bags (icing) or 2 zip-top plastic bags
- offset spatula or butter knife
Instructions
- Divide cream cheese into two bowls. Color one with a drop of purple food coloring and whip until incorporated.
- Put each color of cream cheese into a decorating bag. Pipe cream cheese dotes in a single row, alternating between the plain and purple colors.
- Place the offset spatula in the middle of a dot and swipe sideways. Repeat with all dots in the row before piping the next. Note: clean your spatula as you go.
- Optional: sprinkle coconut flakes on one side of the toast and sliced bananas in a corner.
