Tips For Making This Easy Grinch Dessert

Don’t shy away from making this! Even though there are a few steps (and the freezer is your best friend), they’re very simple.

  • Pick up the mini shot glasses at the Dollar Tree. They are pretty thin and will help you remove the cups from the molds easier.
  • White chocolate melting wafers, candy melts, and almond bark all work in this recipe.
  • You can add the candy only version (no cocoa powder) to a glass of hot milk for an amazing vanilla milk recipe that warms your heart and soul.
  • If you want to make the viral cocoa cups that replaced the viral hot chocolate bombs, do it the same way and create the cup shell first. Do not try mixing the hot cocoa powder into the chocolate – trust me. Add the cocoa mix into the cup and then add the chocolate top.
  • If the cup completely breaks while you’re making this, just melt some more chocolate and try again. If you just broke off a little bit, repair the cups with a little chocolate.
  • There’s a good chance the the top might crack when you’re removing from the mold if it’s a bit too thin. If that’s the case, just add more chocolate or top with the marshmallows.
  • I recommend grabbing red sprinkles to offset the white of the marshmallows and green of the chocolate. Candy canes (broken) are a great addition but if you have very small ones, please break them into very small pieces or crush them.
  • Practice with a few first and don’t get frustrated with this most fun of food trends. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be cranking them out in no time at all.

Grinch Bomb Cups

These Grinch themed cups are perfect to sweeten milk or cocoa and are so much fun to make. They make for a great holiday treat or gift. Note: you can add cocoa powder to turn them into Grinch hot cocoa cups.

Cook Time 15 minutes
Freeze Time 50 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of green melting wafers
  • 1 ounce of white almond bark/melting wafers
  • mini marshmallows
  • holiday sprinkles
  • peppermint pieces or broken candy canes
  • hot cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate according to the directions on the package.
  2. Put the plastic cups upside down. Use an Exacto knife to cut a line down the side of the cup.
  3. Pour the white and green chocolate into the same bowl and marble them by not stirring them completely.
  4. Pour the marbled mixture into the plastic cups. Make sure that you're twisting the cup as you do this so that the entire thing is covered.
  5. Turn the cup upside down on parchment paper. Put the cup in the freezer for about 8-10 minutes. Take it out, pour chocolate in until the cup is 3/4 of the way full, and freeze again (20 minutes).
  6. NOTE: If you want to make Grinch hot cocoa cups, don't fill the entire thing with chocolate. Fill the cavity with 1 tablespoon of hot cocoa powder first and then fill the cup 3/4 full of melted chocolate. Put that in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the candy cups from the freezer, turn them upside down, and cut around the rim. Peel off the cup slowly using the slit on the side.
  8. Turn them right side up and add a bit of melted chocolate on top, add a few mini marshmallows, peppermint sticks, and sprinkles. Serve immediately. To make the sprinkles stick for gifting or shipping, put some white chocolate in a piping bag and use on each sprinkle. Put back in the freezer for about 8 minutes.Horizontal collage of six square images showing how to prep, mold with chocolate, un mold, and fill the Grinch hot cocoa cups recipe from ruffles and rain boots.
