Tips to Make Frozen Hot Chocolate Bombs

  • Making Frozen hot cocoa bombs is insanely easy, especially once you get the hang of it. All you need to get started is a mold like this one here, some melting candy chocolate (in light blue) and a few marshmallows. You really have to use melting candy chocolate because they’re so much more smooth when melted than chocolate chips. Plus, if you’ve ever had to color white chocolate, you know it’s not the easiest. So grab a bag of light blue chocolate candy melts like these.
  • When it’s time to make the hot cocoa with your Frozen hot chocolate bombs, all you need to do is heat approximately 2 cups of your favorite milk then put your hot cocoa bomb in the mug and pour the milk over it. The hot cocoa bombs will start to melt, float a little and “explode”.
  • I wanted to add a little sprinkle-magic to the top of my DIY hot cocoa bombs, because sprinkles are cool. I just grabbed some light blue jimmies and balls, some white round sprinkles and went about it!

These easy Frozen hot cocoa bombs are the most simple way to add a little Frozen-inspired treats to a cold and chilly day!

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Light Blue Candy Melts
  • 2 cups Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • ÂĽ cup White Candy Melts
  • Sprinkles in Light Blue and White

Instructions

  1. Place both of the candy melts into two separate microwave-safe bowls then melt each of the them in the microwave per the candy melt directions.
  2. Place about 1 tbsp of the melted blue candy melts into one of the half sphere molds and, with the bottom of a spoon or your tablespoon measuring spoon, press the candy melts up and around the sides of the mold, making a thick but even coat. Repeat coating all 12 halves of the bomb mold.
  3. Place the coated bomb molds into your freezer for about 5 minutes then take them out and gently tap the mold, pressing on one side of the hardened candy melts to make the sphere of chocolate slide out of the mold.
  4. Fill 6 of the chocolate cups with about 1 tbsp hot cocoa mix, 6-8 mini marshmallows and some sprinkles, if desired.
  5. Warm a plate or a flat-bottom bowl in your microwave for about 45 seconds or until the plate is warm.
  6. Press an empty bomb half, with the open-side-down, onto the flattest area of the warmed plate for approximately 10 seconds. This will melt just the rim of the cup.
  7. Immediately place this half-cup to the top of a filled cup, joining the two halves to make a hot cocoa bomb. Repeat to make 6 full hot cocoa bombs.
  8. With a piping bag or a fork, drizzle all of the remaining blue candy melts over the top of your hot cocoa bombs, then drizzle with the white candy melts, followed by sprinkling generously with some sprinkles.
  9. Slide the hot cocoa bombs inside your freezer for about 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to set, then remove and store your cocoa bombs in an airtight container until you’re ready to use.
  10. When it's time to use your hot cocoa bombs, set them in a mug then pour 2 cups of hot milk over the hot cocoa bomb. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and enjoy! photo collage tutorial of how to make frozen hot cocoa bombs
