Tips for Making this Mickey Basket
- Be careful with your fingers when using the hot glue! It’s going to be hot and sticky so be aware so you don’t burn yourself. If you aren’t big on the hot glue or you’d like to let your tween or teen make this, check out this ultra low-temp hot glue gun I got my kiddo!
- Make certain that you’re adding enough glue to get that rope to hold and stick. This is what makes basically the entire basket so it needs to be sturdy.
- Don’t rush the drying process of this basket. It does dry quickly but it does need the entire time to do so. If the glue squeezes out, clean it up right away or, use a razor blade or craft knife to scrape the excess glue away.

Dollar Tree Mickey Catch-All Basket
This fun Dollar Tree Mickey catch-all basket is a fast and easy way to make a cute Mickey basket for a kids room or your hall table. It would even make a fast and fun gift idea for anyone Mickey-obsessed!
Materials
- 2 Dollar Tree Nautical Jute Rope
Tools
- Ruler/tape measure
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue Sticks
Instructions
- Start by measuring out 6 feet of the rope and 2 12-inch long lengths of rope and cutting them to length.
- Put the hot glue on the end of the rope and then start rolling the rope around itself. It's going to remind you of a snail during this process. Just keep adding the glue and rolling it. You're going to do this for the entire 6 foot section of the rope. Once you've done it all, it should measure out to be about 6 inches in diameter.
- Repeat rolling and gluing the shorter two ropes to form the base of the ears.
- Hot glue the ears to the bigger spiral of rope and let them dry.
- Put a bit of hot glue on the very bottom of the rope and follow along, making the Mickey shape. Mae certain to add the rope to the top of the bottom layer and glue the rope on top.
- After you've done this once, move on and do the next layer. You should complete these about 3 times.
- Once you get the basket as tall as you want it, trim the end of the rope so that it's slanted and them glue it down.
