Tin Can Christmas Craft Idea
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I’ve been working through my (overflowing) holiday craft bins. It seems I can’t toss a simple decoration if I can reuse it later, so today I sat down intending to put a dent into it.
Recycling crafts for Christmas are always on the top of my list because it’s good for the environment and our wallets! Today, I’m tacking three tins cans with the tweens and teens.

How to Make These Tin Can Planters or Tin Can Candy Jars
First, wash and dry all of the tin cans. If you have dents, try and pop them out if they’re in the body – if they won’t come out, use that can for the yarn wrapped designs.
Next, paint one of the cans white and set aside to dry.
For the first can, open the Dollar Tree fuzzy sock and insert the can. Pull the sock’s toe area under the bottom and smooth up the sides. Tuck the top of the sock inside and fill with greenery or treats.

For the second can, use hot glue to secure the start of the chunky yarn at the bottom of the can’s edge. Then, wrap the entire can tightly (up to the top edge). Add hot glue to the top edge of the can and cover with the yarn. Glue on a decorative sprig or some berries and fill with greenery or treats.

Once the paint is dry on the final can, add a small cut of red baker’s twine tied into a bow. Add glue to the back of the can to secure the twine in place.
You could also paint and roll the can in Epsom salts as we did here with these DIY snowy Christmas mason jars.
