Tips for Making Smoked Salmon Pinwheel Sandwiches

  • Find fresh dill in the produce section in the grocery store. Many have it available in a snap-close package or in a plantable herb. You can also find fresh dill to plant at the local home improvement store in the nursery area.
  • If you cannot find fresh dill for the smoked salmon pinwheels, use herb cream cheese instead. You can find this in the dairy section of your grocery store.
  • When serving older guests (not children), you can opt to keep the smoked salmon in strips. Below, you’ll see I cut it into bite-sized pieces for the kids.

Notes for Making Smoked Salmon Pinwheels

  • Using a serrated or large bread knife is the best style to use when cutting the tortillas. A regular knife will not cut through as easily. The serrated knife cuts through like butter!
  • When cutting the smoked salmon pinwheel sandwiches, use a freshly sharpened serrated knife. This makes slicing the tortillas easier
  • If the local grocery store does not have smokes salmon, pop into the local deli. They will be happy to help you. Ask for some fresh cucumber slices to go on the side.
