Red White and Blue Cookies
These red, white, and blue cookies are perfect for Independence Day and the kids can help make them. Get the kids in the kitchen and use this cake mix cookies recipe to help the little ones learn to measure, mix, and lay out the dough for baking. Follow the tips to get the deepest red cookie dough without using a ton of food coloring. The entire process will take less than 20 minutes and everyone will love these festive cookies for the 4th of July.
Ingredients
- 1 box of French Vanilla cake mix
- 1/3 C Canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- Red and Sky Blue gel food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350º.
- Combine cake mix, vegetable oil, and 2 eggs.
- Divide the batter into three equal portions in separate bowls.
- Mix 5-10 drops of red food coloring into one bowl
- Mix 5-10 drops of Sky Blue food coloring into the second bowl .
- Leave the third bowl un-colored.
- Place about 1 TSP of each color dough in the palm of your hand and form into a balls.
- Place cookie dough balls about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper.
- Gently mash each cookie dough ball down so that it becomes a thick, flat disk.
- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
- Allow cookies to completely cool before enjoying!
