Tips to Make this Kids Christmas Craft Idea
- I used to cut all of my paper, but then I found this awesome set of precut quilling paper and I haven’t looked back–so much quicker to get to the actual craft!
- If you don’t have quilling strips, use origami paper and cut it into thin strips.
- For a quilling tool, a bamboo skewer works very well–no need to buy anything fancy.
- Try making a few of the circles to get the hang of it before you make your finals.
- Use some kind of a clear glue for the assembly so that the glue won’t show. You can certainly use school glue, just hold it in place for a little bit so it sets.

This easy kids Christmas paper craft is so fun and the quilled Christmas lights make for great present decorations and Christmas card toppers.
Materials
- White Craft Paper
- Quilling Strips
Tools
- Slotted Quilling Tool
- Scissors
- Craft Glue or Glue Stick
Instructions
- Coil a 20 inch long colored quilling strip with the slotted quilling tool.
- Allow the coil to loosen and remove the tool.
- Make a teardrop shape with the loosened coil by pressing in one side of the coil.
- Secure the shape by glueing the loos end.
- Create a loose coil shape with a 3 inches long white colored quilling strip.
- Pinch the 2 sides of the loose white coil to form a lens shape.
- Insert the white lens shape into the teardrop shape, between the gap of coils at the curved end.
- Repeat 6 more times with different color quilling strips for the bulbs.
- Create a small twirl on each end of a 6 inches long black quilling strip. Repeat with a second 6-inch long black quilling strip.
- Glue the 2 black twirled strips onto a sheet of white craft paper with a slight curve downward in the center. Keeping enough space between the two strips to allow for the bulbs.
- Glue a bulb onto the craft paper with the curved end butted against the black strip.
- Repeat with each bulb.
- Allow the glue to dry completely.
- Enjoy!
