DIY Clay Pot Frog on a Lily Pad
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, summer crafting is in full swing. We’re balancing creativity in between playing in the pool, sipping on tea, and eating fun summer cupcakes like these pink lemonade cupcakes we made today.
While we were taking a break from the sun, we made a few of these cute terra cotta frogs using supplies we had on hand. They’re so cute and easy – I am even sharing a free printable for the frog feet, lily pad, and simple flower.

Materials and Supplies You Will Need
Below are what we used because we had the stuff on hand. Check your stash before heading out to the dollar stores.
- 2.5 inch Clay Pot
- Light Green and Pink Acrylic Paint
- Green, Light Green, and Pink Felt
- Styrofoam Balls (1″)
- Button or Foam (Yellow)
- Glue, Scissors, Paintbrush, Marker
How to Make a Clay Pot Frog Using Dollar Tree Pots
Each step is detailed below with pictures. If you prefer, you can print a step by step guide without images by scrolling down to the end of this tutorial.
First, paint the terra cotta pot and the foam balls with the light green paint and let dry. Repeat if you need a second coat.
Download and print the template and cut out the frog feet and six small circles from light green felt. Cut the lily pad from green felt and and three pink flowers from the water lily flower template.
Glue the eyes to the foam balls and attach to the top of the upside down pot.
Glue the frog feet to the inside of the bottom edge of the clay pot and the green circles to the back and sides of the pot.
Use a permanent marker to make nostrils and a smile and the pencil’s eraser to make painted pink cheeks.
Layer and glue all three pink flowers on each other and top with a yellow button to create the water lily. Glue it to the lily pad.
Place the frog onto the lily pad and display your cute terra cotta pot frog.

Materials
- Free Printable Template for Frog Feet, Lily Pad, and Flower

Tools
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors and/or Craft Knife
- Sharpie Marker
- Pencil
- Paintbrush
Instructions
