Tips for Making a Buffalo Plaid St. Patty’s Day Sign
- Instead of using a piece of painter’s tape as a spacer, you can also use a pencil and ruler to mark where the tape should go.
- Always start your measuring in the middle and move to the sides or the top and bottom. This makes learning how to paint buffalo check easier.
- If you are going to hang your sign outside, be sure to paint a coat of wood sealant before adding the LUCK shape and ribbon.
- If hanging outside, before adding the ribbon to the sign, spray it with Scotchgard or a similar product to seal the fabric.

Notes for Making Your Wooden Shamrock Sign
- Before starting your shamrock sign, make sure the wood and paintbrushes are clean and free of any debris. This will allow you to have a nice clean finish on your plaque.
- When wiping down your wood for your sign, we recommend using a microfiber cloth so there are no threads, etc. left behind.
- When you are finished using each paintbrush, make sure you use a recommended brush cleaner to remove all paint residue. Allow brushes to dry completely before using them again.
- The reason you are painting a white coat in between green coats of paint is so the green paint layers do not bleed into one another.
