Tips for Making Bubblegum Bath Bombs

  • When using mica powder to color bath bombs to make at home, add 1/2 teaspoon of Polysorbate 80. This keeps a colored ring around the tub from forming by making the mix blend well.
  • If making lots of bath bombs for gifts, buy baking soda, Epsom salt, cornstarch, and citric acid in bulk. I pick them up at Costco.
  • Save money and buy soap scents or essential oils in sets rather than individual bottles. This gives you a huge variety at a value.

Notes for Making Bath Bombs

  • SLSA can be added to this homemade bath bombs recipe, as it is an ingredient that makes your bath bombs bubble, giving you a bubble bath-type experience. That said, you can leave it off entirely and when making for others, I don’t use it because it can be a skin irritant.
  • When paired with baking soda, citric acid makes your bath bombs fizz up in the water. A compressed mixture will make the bath bomb fizz even longer.
  • Mica powder adds color and a shimmer to your bath bombs. It easily dissolves in water and is skin safe. Please do not use food coloring as it can stain skin and tubs.
