My favorite candy bar led me to make this mouth-watering Snickers cupcakes recipe. These cupcakes are truly decadent (they go great with a tall glass of cold milk).

At first glance, these cupcakes may look like they are very complicated to make but that is so far from the truth! We started with a box cake mix as a base, used a few ingredients from the pantry and fridge, and created this amazing dessert.

Why These Cupcakes Are the Perfect Recipe

They are unique. Whenever I go to a potluck or party, I usually see the run-of-the-mill chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with the same flavor frosting. This recipe is in no way the same old cupcake. People will be clamoring for them.

They are so much easier than they appear. I think when people see a cupcake recipe that has a surprise filling in the middle, they get intimidated. The surprise here is how easy it is to actually make a cupcake like this.

It is chocked full of flavor. I love that you get the Snickers flavor all the way through this cupcake recipe. The chocolate, caramel, and peanuts are such a great addition to this delicious snack.

They would be great for a bake sale at the kid’s school. Can you imagine how quickly these cupcakes would go? They would snag a great price and go flying off the sale table.

Tips for Making Snickers Cupcakes

  • For a heavier cupcake such as this Snickers dessert idea, we suggest liners the pros use. Some of these include glassine, greaseproof, or aluminum liners. For a filled cupcake like this recipe, we suggest using two of the regular paper liners.
  • If you are a novice with using a sharp knife to chop the peanuts, you can also use a food processor and use the chop option. Just pulse once or twice.
  • When choosing the sauces for the drizzle, choose those that are labeled as a sundae sauce. They are a bit thicker than those you would use as a flavoring for a glass of milk or a shake.
  • We used snack-sized Snickers bars for this recipe as that is what we had on hand. You can also use the full-size bars (you will need approximately three).

Notes for Making Snickers Cupcakes

  • We like using ice cream scoops to add the batter to the cupcake liners. This is a much neater option than using a spoon or measuring cup.
  • When choosing the oil for the recipe, usually a canola oil will work best as it does not add any additional flavors to the mixture. You could also use safflower or any vegetable oil.
  • Salted peanuts work well for this recipe. To give an additional layer of flavor to the cupcakes you can use a dry or honey-roasted nut as well.
  • Instead of a wooden skewer to cut a small hole in the cupcakes, you can also use a melon baller or a cupcake hole maker from Amazon, which we like to use as well.
