Tips to Make a Santa Gnome from Dollar Tree Supplies
- If you prefer a larger nose, you can use a larger wood round. But be careful not to go too oversized, because the material for the body is not very absorbent and won’t bond with the glue very strongly. So you will want to find a nose that’s very light, even if it is larger than the wood bead I selected.
- To cut your beard, take care to flip the fur over, exposing the fabric side and cutting the fabric only with a craft knife or razor blade. This will keep from cutting the fur and will give you that long, luscious look.
- Want to give your gnome a little different hat style? Try a sock instead of the Santa hat! you’ll have a little glowing belly gnome with a sock hat for a whole different look!
How Do I Make this Dollar Tree Light-up Gnome Santa?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
Dollar Tree Light-up Gnome Santa
Fast, fun and ridiculously cute, this Dollar Tree light-up gnome Santa is one of my favorite gnome crafts this season!
Materials
- Light up Santa
- White Craft Fur
- Christmas hat
- Mop Strand
- Wooden Bead
Tools
- Scissors
- Craft knife or razor blade
- Hot glue gun & glue
Instructions
- Remove all of the felt decorations on the light up Santa.
- Cut the tip of the Santa hat to desired size, about 6-inches. You can discard the larger portion of the hat - you will only need the tip of this gnome craft.
- Estimate how long you would like the beard to be by placing the craft fur on the Santa body. Cut the craft fur by turning it over and using the craft knife or razor blade to cut the fabric backing of the fur.
- Affix the craft fur onto the gnome Santa body using hot glue.
- Add the wooden bead to the top of the beard.
- Trim Santa hat if needed and affix to the top of the gnome using hot glue.
- Add a strand of mop to trim the hat then get ready to display your gnome because he's done!
