Tips for Making an Almond Sugar Scrub

  • If you do not have white granulated sugar for this recipe, you can substitute brown sugar and get the same great results.
  • Coconut oil is a great oil to substitute for the almond oil if you don’t have it on hand.
  • When making this for others and you are unsure if someone has an allergy to nut oils, use a jojoba oil (or other non-nut oil).
  • If you aren’t able to get the almond fragrance oil for this almond sugar scrub, add almond extract from the pantry.
  • Instead of using honey from the kitchen for this recipe, you can easily substitute dry honey powder. I really like it in the solid scrub cubes I made and it’s less messy.

Notes for Making or Gifting a Sugar Scrub

  • Store homemade sugar scrubs in an airtight container at room temperature.
  • Gift or keep this scrub in a single-use container. Water or detritus on hands can contaminate the mixture.
  • This scrub should be used within a few months (if kept in a sealed, airtight container without an opening). The best way to determine shelf life is by using the expiration date of the SHORTEST date on the ingredients list but always use before 6 months.
  • If you’re making gifts in advance for birthdays, Christmas, or other events, iI recommend a SOLID cube sugar scrub like these DIY natural honey sugar scrub cubes. They last longer, are less messy, and are already a single use serving.
