Tips for Making This Dollar Tree Calendar Craft
Below are some tips and alternative supplies for this set of DIY Christmas ornaments. Be sure to check the instructional card below for more ways to use, gift, and display your holiday craft.
- Twine – There is quite a bit of winding and gluing in this craft with the twine. I recommend using a bit of lotion on your hands just before starting as it could dry them out.
- Yarn – If you don’t want to use twine for a rustic look, you can make these calendar ornaments using yarn you can get from the Dollar Tree. A deep red or white will really change the look without changing the process.
- Raffia – Sometimes it’s hard to find the red raffia (it sells out quickly where I am). If you can’t locate it, grab a little bow off a previous project or look in the floral or seasonal departments for a ribbon.
- Tip: To make it a bit more simple to wrap the twine, wrap it around your fingers first (but not your thumb) about 30 times and then take it off in a tight bunch. This will help to pull the twine in the middle of the curtain ring while you’re wrapping.

Dollar Tree Wreath Ornament
This Dollar Tree wreath ornament is perfect for an easy, quick, and cute homemade ornament. Just pick up shower curtain rings, a calendar, and a bit of twine to make them.
Materials
- 1 Dollar Tree Shower Curtain Ring
- “Simply Blessed” Dollar Tree Calendar (can use any)
- Red Raffia (or yarn)
- Twine
- 1 faux “berry” (from a flower pick)
Tools
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Stick
- Scissors
Instructions
- Cut out the images (larger than you need) from the back of the calendar (the summary sheet on the back side).
- Put a drop of glue on the shower ring on the side where the ring opens and place the end of the twine on the glue. Wrap it around the ring (add glue here and there to help it stick).
- Glue shut the open/close part of the shower ring to lock it in place and wrap it, as well. Add glue to the end of the twine to seal.
- Add glue on the back of the ring, center the image by hovering over it, and press down to secure. Once glue is dry, turn it over and cut off the excess picture portion. Add glue around the edges when done.
- Cut a piece of twine into a hanger and add it to the back of the twine AND the image backing with glue (enough to make it secure).
- Use the red raffia to add a bow, glue on a berry in the middle, and hang your adorable Dollar Tree wreath ornament!
Notes
This easy Dollar Tree Christmas craft can be used in so many ways:
- Add a longer twine hanger and loop it over the top of a decorated holiday mason jar full of treats for a neighbor.
- Use the wreath ornament as-is and turn it into a package tag hanging from ribbon wrapped around a gift or the handle of a gift bag.
- Turn it into a gift tag by adding a piece of white card stock to the back with a To / From or holiday sentiment written on it.
- Drape it (as-is) over the mouth of a wine bottle for a fast and easy way to give wine as a gift without a wine bag.
