Tips For Making Your Sandwich Pinwheels

  • Did you know that capsaicin is what makes a pepper hot (as in spicy)? It is an oil-like compound that can be found in several parts of the pepper, like the seeds for instance. If you are looking for a milder taste, remove the seeds and the glands (the middle part the seeds cling to).
  • Another way to make your jalapeño peppers less spicy is to soak them in water before cutting them or add diced green peppers to the mix.
  • Be sure to wash your hands after handling a jalapeño pepper. That capsaicin I told you about will burn your eyes if you rub them with your fingers!
  • Three of the basic ingredients in a jalapeno popper recipe are jalapeño peppers, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. To add a bit more flavor, use a Mexican shredded cheese blend.

Notes for Making your Jalapeño Pinwheel Sandwiches

  • Many people use a pinwheel sandwich as a lunch or dinner option but as I mentioned above, this also makes a great snack-style dinner for the family.
  • To make it easier to roll your sandwiches, use cling wrap. This helps keep the roll tight, which makes slicing your pinwheels simpler.
  • Be sure you spread an even layer of the filling over the tortillas and try to get just inside the edge of the tortilla.
