Tips to Make this Christmas Mickey Craft
- Click here to get the full Mickey Mouse Ho Ho Ho silhouette SVG set. If you don’t have a Cricut, you can still make this project. Just print out one of the files, trace it onto the chip board and cut out your shapes with a craft knife.
- To make the little Santa hats, I used some scraps of red velvet but you can use red minky, red fleece or even red felt. Take care, though, if you choose to use a fabric that frays, to hem the project so that you don’t have fraying edges.
- If you’ve never worked with chipboard on the Cricut before, you can grab some 12×12 sheets here that cut nicely on the Cricut Maker. I like to use this material anytime I need something that will stand up on it’s own and it’s worked beautifully every time.
How Do I Make this Ho Ho Ho Mickey Christmas Cricut Craft?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
Ho Ho Ho Mickey Christmas Cricut Craft
I love how simple this ho ho ho Mickey Christmas Cricut craft turned out to be. A great mantle decor piece you can make in minutes!
Materials
- 1 12x12 Chipboard
- 3 3-inch Wood Rounds
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Red Acrylic Paint
- Scraps Red Velvet
- Scraps White Trim Fabric (I used sherpa fabric, but even felt would work)
- Downloadable Mickey Ho Ho Ho File
Tools
- Cricut Maker
- Strong Grip Mat
- Masking Tape
- Deep Cut Blade
- Paintbrush
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Painter’s Tape
Instructions
- Paint each of the wood rounds black. Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Download the Mickey Ho Ho Ho file and upload it to Cricut Design Space. Follow the prompts to cut 3 ho ho ho shapes from the chipboard. I recommend that you tape down the corners of the chipboard to avoid the chipboard moving while cutting.
- When the shapes are cut, using the painter’s tape, tape off the H on each shape. Paint all of the Mickey heads black on both sides, allowing the paint to dry completely.
- Remove the tape then paint each H with the red paint on both sides, allowing the paint to dry completely.
- Make the Santa hats by cutting 3 triangles 1 ½ inch wide by 1 ½ inch tall from red velvet.
- Cut 3 - 1-inch long by ¼-inch wide strips of the trim material.
- Cut 3 mini circles of the trim fabric for pom poms on the hat.
- Hot glue a pom pom to each top of the red triangles and the strips to the bottoms.
- Attach the hats to the Mickey portion of the painted "ho"s with hot glue.
- Stand a Mickey shape up on the center of a wood round and hot glue it in place. Repeat with the other two Mickey shapes and set them out to display!
