Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I always get so excited about the first day of school. I love my kids, but I’m so tired of opening snacks! Just kidding. But it’s such a change and exciting period, that I like to make a bit of a big deal about going back to school.

Getting back to that routine can be fun and helps set the kids off on the right foot for the new school year. And honestly, quick crafts and fun DIY projects to get them excited are easy to put together or set up.

How to Use These Free Back to School cut FileS

• Everyone is doing the cool chalkboard for first day of school pictures. It’s kind of a pain to make your own sometimes so I just grabbed this cute chalkboard sign and used removable vinyl. That way, I didn’t have to buy or make a whole multiple chalkboards every year. You can just take the vinyl off and reuse it later!
• I really feel like a first day of school shirt would be a great choice for younger kids and they wearing them. This year, I’m going with a hot pink shirt like this one because my daughter loves everything bright and fun.
