Tips to Make a Farmhouse Style Wreath
- Start by grabbing a grapevine wreath here. It’s going to be the base–and the way we’re going to make our fun farmhouse wreath for spring, you can actually change out the decor for different seasons, super easily!
- Wanna know how I made this so easy to switch out for other pieces later? I used chenille stems/pipe cleaners like these instead of the traditional floral wire.
- To hang your farmhouse wreath, you can wrap a thick ribbon around the top or you can do what I did and just tie a very small piece of twine around the backside of some of the grapevine wreath, kind of hiding it.
How Do I Make this Spring Farmhouse Wreath?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
Spring Farmhouse Wreath
You're not going to believe how easy it is to make this simple spring farmhouse wreath. It's about 10 minutes of work to get from empty grapevine wreath to beautiful spring wreath for your front door!
Materials
- Grapevine Wreath Base
- Chenille Wire/Pipe Cleaners (about 10)
- 2-3 Sprigs Faux Eucalyptus Leaves
- 3-4 Large White Faux Flowers
- 1 Roll 3 - 4-inch Striped Ribbon
- 1-2 Small Pinecones
- Twine
Tools
- Scissors
- Needle Nose Wires/Wire Cutters
Instructions
- Start by deciding which side of the grapevine wreath you want to be the front and which you want to be the back. Just whichever side you want to be seen, there's no rhyme or reason--just pick.
- Attach your eucalyptus leaves to the grapevine wreath along one side of the grapevine wreath, generally lining the area you want the floral bits to be. Use the chenille wire to thread through the grapevine wreath in several places, twisted snugly in the back, to hold the faux floral elements on the front of the wreath.
- Add the flowers to the front, layered on top of the eucalyptus leaves and then add the pinecones.
- To make the bow, make 4 loops about 5-inches long and wrap a chenille wire around the center of the loops. Make 2 or 3 additional loops about 7 inches long with a tail or two and place this on the back of the smaller looped bow pieces. Wrap the chenille wire around the center of the bow tightly and then affix the bow to the wreath and attach with the wire.
- Add any additional floral elements to the front, including a small piece to the center of the bow.
- Attach the twine to the back of the wreath at the topmost point, tying it in a knot, but leaving the loop loose enough to wrap around your wreath hanger.
