  • My #1 trick is something I completely forgot this time around and had to fix-up…true story. You absolutely have to take the stencil off the jar BEFORE the paint dries. If not, the paint will pull away at the edges and you’ll end up a not-so-happy camper with your stencil job. • With that down, you’re probably wondering about what to tell your gift recipient to add to your cookie mix to bake them up. Click here to get the cute little free printable gift tag I made to go with the jar – so your worries can just hop off into the sunset! LOL!
  • Last tip: Take care when you layer your ingredients in your jar to put the sprinkles between layers in a way that will allow your gift recipient to see the actual sprinkles – makes the recipient that much better! Speaking of those sprinkles, the place I got mine appears to be sold out, but I found some absolutely sweet and fun little Easter sprinkles here that you can use instead!

Cookie Mix

Tools

  • Cricut Explore Air 2 or Cricut Maker
  • Light Grip Mat
  • Foam Paintbrush
  • Funnel, optional
  • Single Hole Punch

Instructions

  1. Download the bunny stencil cut file and upload it to Cricut Design Space. Import it to a new workspace and size it to fit to the height of your jar (it should come in correctly sized, but if you need to modify it, this is the time). Select "Make It" and select vinyl as the material. Load the vinyl onto the light grip mat, then insert it into the machine. Cut the bunny-shaped stencil from the vinyl.
  2. When the bunny-shaped stencil is cut, weed the design and remove the bunny from the transfer paper, then apply the bunny shape to the front of the mason jar. Rub the design down, especially along the edges to keep the paint from getting under the stencil.
  3. Using your foam paintbrush, apply the acrylic paint to your jar, dabbing around the edges of the stencil, to keep from pushing the paint under the stencil. While the paint is still wet, remove the stencil from the jar. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on.
  4. Fill the jar with the cookie mix in layers, taking care to put the sprinkles in a layer or two that are visible through the bunny shape. Place the lid on the jar tightly.
  5. Download and print the free printable gift tag. Punch a hole in the top of the card in the corner and thread a piece of ribbon through it, then tie the ribbon to the top of the jar and gift! photo collage tutorial of how to paint mason jars with cricut stencils for bunny cookie mix gift in a jar
