To make these school-inspired, notebook paper Rice Krispies treats, you can start with either store-bought or homemade treats. We know you’re busy, so don’t forget: get the kids in the kitchen and get help to make them if you want homemade!
- Rice Krispies Treats (homemade or store-bought)
- white fondant (you only need the small package or a marshmallow fondant recipe)
- edible food markers (these work the best on fondant)
- white frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- rectangle cookie cutter (2 x 1.75-inch) or a knife if you don’t have one
- apple icing decorations or alphabet and number icing decorations
- toothpicks, ruler, rolling pin, and powdered sugar
How to Make Back to School Rice Krispies Treats

Ingredients
- Rice Krispies Treats (homemade or store-bought)
- white fondant (you only need the small package or a marshmallow fondant recipe)
- edible food markers (these work the best on fondant)
- white frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- rectangle cookie cutter (2 x 1.75-inch) or a knife if you don’t have one
- apple icing decorations or alphabet and number icing decorations
- toothpicks, ruler, rolling pin, and powdered sugar
Instructions
- Sprinkle a small amount of powdered sugar on a flat surface. Gently roll out the fondant to about 1/8th of an inch thick.
- Cut rectangles to match your Rice Krispies Treats. No one will care if they aren’t perfect.
- Spread a small amount of frosting on each treat. Lay the fondant on top and lightly press it down.
- Use the ruler and a blue edible marker to create horizontal lines of notebook paper. Create a vertical red line along the left side of the fondant.
- If using, add an apple icing decoration with a small amount of white frosting.
