Easy Ball Gown Garland – A Tulle Garland for a Princess Party
This easy tulle garland is perfect for a princess party – we call it the ball gown garland because they look exactly like princess dresses! The best part is that it is very quick and easy to make.
Tulle Garland for a Princess Party
Picture this: we were all prepared to have a pom pom themed, 3rd birthday party – a theme, mind you, chosen by my daughter.
Weeks in advance, we had planned (and completed) a fun pom pom party game suitable for 3 year olds, a pom pom centerpiece, a pom pom garland, and even a pom pom craft for the kids.
The entire party was decorated with creations made (mostly) by our soon-to-be 3 year old. I felt like Super Mom!
If you have kids, you know what happened… A couple days before the party, the little one changes her mind and requests a FROZEN themed party.
But every young girl who lives in Seattle apparently has a birthday in December, and also appears to have requested a FROZEN themed birthday party. No garlands were to be found.
So we raided our craft supplies and made a princess ball gown style tulle garland in about 15 minutes.
Supplies for an Easy Tulle Garland
- Tulle (scraps or rolls) – I used a 6″ tulle roll and scraps from our Anna dress up apron and our Elsa dress up apron.
- Pipe cleaners – Raid your child’s stash.
- String, twine, or random silver garland you have had for 15 years and normally use on your mini artificial Christmas tree outside.
Instructions for a Ball Gown Garland
Step 1: Tulle strips.
Cut 14-inch (ish). It’s doesn’t have to be exact. It’s a tulle garland, after all, and you can trim it after you string it.
Step 2: Stack and twist.
Stack between 4 and 6 strips on top of each other.
Grab the stacked tulle in the center and twist out your frustrations for having to plan a party during the busy holiday season with next-to-no purchasable party supplies. Twist, twist, twist.
Step 3: Loop.
Create a loop by aligning the ends of the tulle and secure with half a pipe cleaner. Psst: your child has inevitably run off with them.
Step 4: Fluff and string.
Fluff the tulle, string, and hang your tulle garland. Then, eat a pre-party cupcake.

Okay, so this is an old post to you, but a new one to me! One I probably won’t actually use… however, I love that you and I have the same sense of humor… only your’s seems to be a bit more G rated where as mine usually actually, easily hits the NC17 rating. Anyhoo. Thanks for the laughs this afternoon ;)
Well…this post made me chuckle a time or two! The garland ended up looking great and I’m sure your daughter loved it!
Visiting from It’s Overflowing. Have a great week!

So, so cute! I love tulle, and this garland is adorable, and your colors are fantastic! Thanks for sharing! PINNED!
Thank you so much for the Pin, Michelle, and for stopping by. Tulle is one of my favorite craft mediums because it’s inexpensive, forgiving, and just so darn fun!
Ahhh mamas, it never ends! LOL You’re totally super mom, I don’t think I would have given in just because I didn’t want to change direction…AKA laziness! LOL You rock! :D
Low key birthday parties? Uh yep … totally nailed it. Mother, Father, Brother, Sister, Cake, Ice Cream and a present or two. DONE!!! And maybe, just maybe, cookies or cupcakes at school … way back when, of course. Not now with the limitations of no lactose goods, vegan alternatives, presents for everyone (because it’s EVERYONES special day) … pass … Good for you Sarah … Glad Uncle John took a picture.
Oh my goodness Sarah! This is so cute and fun and clever! I totally want to do this just because! I even have loads of leftover tulle from my Elsa aprons!
Thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year!
xoxo
