Thank Goodness It’s Thursday No. 51

I’m sitting in a relaxing cabin just outside of Forks, WA (yes, that place from Twilight) and it is pouring down rain. Jeff and the little one are napping and I am snuggled up watching the rain come down and little creatures make their appearances now and again. We are all content in our little place of respite from the relentless rain and I am thankful for this quiet time before the hustle of the holidays really kicks into high gear. Help us to kick off the weekend and join the party!

For the past few days, we have been happy, healthy and thoroughly drenched after our mid-day hikes through the rain forest. Admittedly, if you aren’t used to the rain, the Pacific North West rain forest in winter is probably not the best vacation spot. Visiting here in the drier summer months might be a better option if you’re used to drier climates, but for those of us from Seattle, a little rain doesn’t stop us from exploring.Last night, we were able to build a fire and introduce our daughter to the joys of s’mores – I forgot just how sweet they really are! I am all for a fine, sugary treat, but wow! Eating a s’mores is like taking an injection of sugar, followed by a sugar chaser, ya know? But, the little one really loved sitting outside on chairs made from stumps, warming herself next to a fire alongside mom and dad.

I am thankful for this trip and for my family. I hope your weeks are full of happy, productive efforts and I’m so happy you’re here to link up or read through some amazing recipes, DIY projects, and crafts! Without further ado, here are this week’s features!

Ooh, Forks how cool! I've never been there but I've gone hiking in Portland and they have some of the most amazing hikes and greenery.

Nina, yes! I do miss Portland in part because of Forest Park. It's a wonderful spot in the city where you can feel transported to a Pacific North West forest. Forks is like that multiplied by 1,000!
