Reindeer Garland in a Mason Jar Kit
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, we are obsessed with reindeers this year. I couldn’t wait to make a fun reindeer garland with the kiddo that she could put up in her room – and then we decided to gift a set to a friend. Such a perfect idea!

Tips to Make this Christmas Garland
- I LOVE the idea of having a little jar or box to store my garlands in at the end of the season so they don’t get tangled in the big box of Christmas stuff that goes in the attic. So, I found these fun reindeer napkins, quickly decoupaged them onto the mason jars and there I have a handy-dandy jar just for me.
- If you want to make this fun garland a neighbor gift or a gift to gift to anyone, really, the mason jar is yet another great idea for gifting. Just make sure you don’t get carried away assembling the garland before you gift it, if you want to let them do the craft. Or just put it together for them and gift it as a garland! LOL!
- Also, don’t forget to leave enough string on each end of the garland to be able to hang the garland easily. You can always trim it if it’s too long, but you can’t really add more length, and if you do somehow devise a way to do that, it’s not going to look as nice.
How Do I Make this Reindeer Garland in a Mason Jar Kit?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
Reindeer Garland in a Mason Jar Kit
This easy reindeer garland in a mason jar kit is the perfect craft to do with the kiddo, or you can gift it!
Materials
- Mini Googly Eyes
- Light Brown Burlap 6-inch Ribbon
- 8 Black Small Pom Poms
- 1 Red Small Pom Pom
- 18 Wooden Clothespins
- Twine or String
Storage Jar
- Reindeer Napkin
- Mason Jar (with lid)
- Mod Podge or Craft Glue
Tools
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Instructions
- Trim the napkin to fit on the jar. To do this, I trimmed off three of the four sides, leaving just one reindeer.
- Paint the jar with mod podge in a smooth layer, then immediately place the reindeer napkin onto the face of the mod podged jar. Place the napkin on the jar carefully because it will tear if you try to reposition it.
- Add a second layer of mod podge over the napkin-covered jar to provide added protection. Allow the mod podge to dry completely.
- From the burlap, cut out 9 4x6-inch triangle pennant shapes.
- Hot glue the googly eyes to the triangle pennants in the top corners and glue a single pom pom to the bottom of the triangle.
- Place the burlap triangles in the order you would like for the final project.
- Cut a length of twine or string to the length of the pennants placed side-by-side, plus 1 foot for additional space.
- With a single clothespin on each side of the triangle shapes, affix the pennants in place then hang on the mantle!
