Moana Bath Bombs

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I love to share bath bomb recipes for kids. I love creating fun shower fizzies and bath bombs because my daughter LOVES getting into the tub with them. She can’t decide on her favorite Disney princess bath bomb: currently, she has two: Snow White bath bombs and Rapunzel Bath Bombs (this one is my favorite because the colors are WOW-worthy).

This week, I made up a quick and easy Moana bath bomb recipe. My little one was SO exited so I thought I’d share it with you all, as well. Let’s get started.

Tips to Make This Moana Bath Bomb Recipe

  • This recipe made 3 large, 2 medium and 3 small bath bombs. Results will vary with the size molds you have, but this batch would be perfect for a Moana birthday party favor. To get more bath bombs, use the smaller molds (about 1.5 – 2 inches).
  • Never color bath bombs like this with food coloring. There is a very high chance of your tub getting discolored.
  • There is an ingredient which is optional, Polysorbate 80. The purpose of this emulsifier is to limit the oils and butters from pooling at the top of the water, as well as to reduce mica from adhering to the walls of the tub.
  • Having coconut oil adds a subtle tropical smell but you can replace it with other skin-safe oils like avocado, olive, or grapeseed.

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch. Whisk dry ingredients together.
  2. Add coconut oil and the polysorbate 80. Whisk together. The coconut oil helps bind all the dry ingredients together. The polysorbate 80 helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bath water and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.
  3. Add the Hawaiian Island scented oil and incorporate thoroughly. I use my hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is nicely mixed in. maui bath bombs moana on a piece of wood on a green background
  4. Separate the mixture evenly between three bowls. Add the brown mica and glitter to one bowl, the yellow mica and glitter to the next and the wine mica and glitter to the third. Mix mica thoroughly into each bowl.
  5. Take a large bath bomb mold and fill one side about 1/4 full with the brown mixture and pat gently. Add one plastic Moana ring to one side and fill that side to the top with the yellow mixture. Add the wine to the other side of the mold and
  6. Press both sides together, using a twisting/grinding motion to get rid of any excess mixture. Gently tap each side and carefully remove the bomb. Leave molds to harden 24 hours. Store in an airtight container until ready to use. Drop one in the bath when ready to use! how to make moana bath bombs and bath fizzies photo collage
