Tips to Make Valentines Hot Cocoa Bombs

  • Don’t bother with using chocolate chips to make hot cocoa bombs. That’s just asking for the chocolate to be difficult and lumpy. Trust me, use candy melts instead, particularly when working with white chocolate – it’s super temperamental. Candy melts just melt more smoothly while chips get all lumpy. ,Just grab your typical melting chocolate like this and make your life easier.
  • I love having a hint of peanut butter mixed with chocolate sometimes and, frankly, the idea of a Reese’s heart (which is the perfect combo of chocolate and peanut butter, frankly) got me so excited. But, if you’re not into the hearts, you can also use mini Reese’s peanut butter cups.
  • When it’s time to use your chocolate peanut butter cocoa bombs, put your valentines hot cocoa bombs in your favorite coffee mug, then warm up your milk in a measuring cup and pour that over the bomb. It will float and actually “explode” when the chocolate starts to melt!

If you want a fun and easy Valentines hot cocoa bomb recipe, this simple 10-minute heart Reeces hot cocoa bomb is it!

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chocolate Candy Melts
  • 2 cups Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • ÂĽ cup Peanut Butter Chips, melted
  • 12 Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Hearts
  • Smores Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Put your chocolate candy melts into a microwave safe bowl and heat them in 30-second increments, stirring between each increment, until smooth and creamy.
  2. Place about 1 tbsp of the melted chocolate into one bomb mold cavity and, using the bottom of your spoon, push the chocolate up and around the sides of the mold, keeping the chocolate thick but even. Repeat with all 12 bomb molds.
  3. Place the filled bomb molds into your freezer for 5 minutes to set.
  4. Remove the chilled molds from the freezer and gently, but firmly, peel the silicone back from the chocolate cups.
  5. Fill 6 of the chocolate cups with 1 tbsp hot cocoa mix, 1 Reece’s heart, 1 tsp sprinkles and 6-8 mini marshmallows.
  6. Warm-up a plate in the microwave until it's warm to the touch.
  7. Gently press one of the empty chocolate cups open-side-down onto the warm plate for about 10 seconds. This will slightly melt the rim.
  8. Immediately press the warmed chocolate cup onto the top of one of your filled cups. This will close the hot cocoa bomb. Repeat to seal all of the bombs.
  9. Using a piping bag drizzle the melted peanut butter chips in a cross-hatch pattern over the assembled hot cocoa bombs.
  10. Immediately press a Reece’s peanut butter cup heart on top of the drizzle.
  11. Pop the hot cocoa bombs into your freezer for 5 minutes, then remove and store in an airtight container until ready to use.
  12. To use your hot cocoa bombs, place the bomb in a mug and pour 2 cups of hot milk on top. Stir until your hot cocoa bombs are melted and enjoy! photo collage tutorial of how to make heart reeces hot cocoa bombs
