How to Make Golden Snitch Hot Cocoa Bombs

First, melt the chocolate. You can either do this in the microwave, heating in 30 second increments until smooth, or use the double boiler method.

Next, use a spoon to fill each cavity of the hot cocoa bomb mold, spreading the melted chocolate over the entire mold. Allow to set.

Once the first layer of chocolate is set, coat with another layer on the top edge where the two spheres will meet – be sure to make the edge thicker for easier joining. Allow to set again.

Next, divide the hot cocoa mix between 4 bowls and tint each with food coloring for each of the house colors (ie, red for Gryffindor, blue for Ravenclaw, green for Slytherin and yellow for Hufflepuff). You can use a food processor to make this step faster.

Gently de-mold the chocolate spheres.

You’ll fill half of the spheres with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows, and save the remaining half for the next step.

One at a time, gently melt the edge of the spheres in a warm frying pan to melt the raw edge. Immediately place on top of a filled sphere to join the two halves. Gently run your finger along the side of the seam, if needed for a smooth finish.

Now you will use the gold luster dust to “paint” the cocoa bombs. Wearing gloves makes this step less messy!

Finally, you will drizzle melted white chocolate over the cocoa bomb, and top with gold sprinkles.

To enjoy, slowly pour 8-12 oz of hot milk or water (the hotter the better) into a mug with the cocoa bomb in it.
