Happy Mother’s Day and Work Gets in the Way

Updating for Mom
I’m updating today not because I have much to report, but because Mom asked for an update. Because my Mom is in Panama, we only get to see Jeff’s Mom, Dorothy, this Mother’s Day. Hey, it’s also her birthday this weekend – how could I not comply?

Honeymoon Registry
Jeff is going to call the honeymoon registry people – no really, he is. He promises… It’s been a couple weeks now and work has gotten in the way. I understand that though because my job has changed and now I’m a senior account manager again. It’s awesome because I can get bonuses and I don’t have to travel all the time anymore. Another plus: dropping weight. Not eating out for every meal has really made a difference on my waist line in just a couple of weeks. Now if I can just exercise…

Cake
Sadly, there is no cake update to report. If there were, the whole whittling waistline comment above would probably not have been reported. We are really excited about this part (okay, mostly it’s just me that’s excited about this part) but we haven’t had time to schedule any tastings because again, work keeps getting in the way.

Favors
We still haven’t selected the candy for the little jars – this is not something that Jeff will be left to decide though. If he chose the candy, everyone would have something that was bacon flavored. I like bacon but, well, hell no to bacon candy!

We’re still timing the growth cycle of our other give-away. I can’t wait until it warms up here because we’ll be able to time them in full sun and then have a much easier way to grow 40 of them. Our kitchen counter can’t take much more of these little pots – we have 10 or so crowded around the little Aero-Garden Mom got us. The great thing though is that we’re going to make a boat-load of homemade pesto! Mmmmm…

Programs and Advice Cards
Yeah, other than spilling coffee on some of the programs I had already made – it still makes me frown – I haven’t done much here. Working 7 am until 10 pm has really cramped my crafting lately. I was actually going to do some programs yesterday but we had the alarm system installed in the house and it just didn’t happen.

Attire
The tailors have put in the corset and I go for the dress fitting next weekend. Bec and XBox (John) are coming down even though Bec isn’t going to get hers altered then. Jeff hasn’t tried on the suit he wants to wear because it’s still at the Seattle house. Boys! I mean really, chicks start working on this stuff MONTHS in advance and most likely the week before the wedding, he’ll drive up to Seattle, get the suit dry cleaned and then just be done. Whatever.

Garden and Houseplants
Although I haven’t taken any pictures of it, the garden is starting to change. The lillies look like trees with really skinny trunks – they are very leafy and bright green but still have no flowers.

The first and second wave of tulips have started to die but the third phase, the parrot tulips, are starting to come out. They look weird… They kind of look like tulips with hair… It’s a bit freaky.

There’s going to be a surprise soon as well. One day, when I was feeling as though nothing was happening in the garden (I’m a tad impatient), I planted random flower seeds in between the tulips. I think something is starting to happen but it could also just be weeds so I’m not getting my hopes up too high!

I think I’m killing yet another ivy. I’m going to move it and see if it recovers. All the other plants inside are doing well because one is a CACTUS, another is a jade plant (pretty hard to kill), there is a lot of basil, and an amaryllis. Which is weird because I think it should have died off by now – yet another thing on my list to Google.
