My favorite gnome ornament pattern is one that I made a while back and whenever I see it, I feel inspired to make something new with the same pattern. That’s what brought me to make this fun set of gnome napkin rings.

Tips to Make Napkin Ring Gnomes
- First, start by grabbing the easy pattern here. I just used the same pattern as the gnome mug cozy and I cut it by hand. If you wanted to cut the gnome hats with your Cricut or Silhouette, you can download the SVG and pattern set here.
- Let’s talk about the magic of making gnome beards… If you’re not an expert in cutting faux fur, I have a trick to make this so easy for you! Just flip the fur over and, using a razor blade or Exacto knife, cut the fabric only (not the fur) and then gently pull the cut piece of fabric away, separating the fur naturally. You’ll get a fantastic drape with no scissors involved!
- What about the wooden rings? Can you make those? I suppose. If you have a drill press with a hole saw and a lot of patience along with some wood. But, the honest truth is, I have none of that. I wanted this to be a 5-minute craft and that didn’t include time to cut down a tree. So, I grabbed some premade raw edge wooden napkin rings, making quick work of the boring part!

How Do I Make Gnome Napkin Rings?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
No-Sew Gnome Napkin Rings
Such a fantastic and EASY Christmas craft. I love this gnome pattern to make gnome napkin rings. You can do so much more with it though - ornaments, garlands and even a mug cozy!
Materials
- Craft Felt in One or Two Colors
- Small Amount of This Fur
- Polymer Clay Ball or Wooden Bead for Nose
- Pattern
- SVG, optional
- Raw Edge Wood Napkin Ring
- Holiday Floral, optional
Tools
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
- Scissors
- Cricut Explore Air 2 or Cricut Maker, optional
Instructions
- Cut out 1 triangle from craft felt. If you're using a cutting machine, follow the instructions in Design Space to cut this piece.
- Roll the triangle of felt into a cone and hot glue it in place in the back to make a nice pointy hat, leaving the bottom open. Trim
- Cut a small "u" shape of the Mongolian fur by flipping it over and cutting the backing only.
- Stuff the squared off end of the beard into the hat and hot glue it in place to the back of the hat on the inside.
- Immediately tuck the nose up under the edge of the hat, making a little wrinkle in the hat and hot glue the nose in place onto both the hat and the beard. Allow this hot glue to dry completely before moving on so you don't mess up the nose placement.
- Add a piece of holiday floral to the front of the hat, if desired.
- Flip the gnome over and place glue on the side of the napkin ring toward the center, then immediately place the gnome onto the napkin ring where you want it to permanently sit. Allow the hot glue to dry completely.
- Place a napkin in the napkin ring and enjoy!
