Tips to Make Princess Jasmine Minnie ears for Disney

  • Don’t be afraid to load-up on flowers, but be careful to keep both sides balanced. For one thing, you don’t want your flowers on one side to make the headband look weird on your head. But for another thing, you don’t want your Princess Jasmine Minnie ears for Disney to constantly be sliding down on one side.
  • Be careful with your hot glue and hot glue gun. This is a hot glue-intensive project and you don’t want burned digits.
  • When wrapping the fairly lights around the wire, be gentle. Both the wire that forms the ear and the wire of the lights are both fragile. You could mush your ear out of alignment or you could break your light wire, easily. So, be gentle.
  • Because you’re putting the flowers on the headband, be sure to put the genie lamp and Jasmine’s shirt a little higher than center. You don’t want to cover it up with the flowers after you’ve put all that work into these Jasmine Minnie ears.

Materials

Tools

  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • Wire Cutters
  • Scissors
  • 4-inch Round Form (I used a roll of tape)
  • Exacto Knife

Instructions

  1. To make the ears, start by finding a shape that is about 4-inches in outer diameter. Cups, unless very large, are generally too small. I found a roll of tape that was about the right size. You can also use a compass.
  2. Wrap a stick of the wire around your shape, pulling the headband alongside where you want the ear to sit.
  3. Trim the wire with an additional 2-inches on each end of the ear shape.
  4. Wrap wire ends around the headband where you want the ends of each ear shape to sit, trimming wire to be on the top side of the headband so it doesn’t accidentally scratch or get tangled in hair. You can, at this time, also hot glue this, covering the sharp point, to further protect the wearer from an unwanted poke.
  5. Begin wrapping the led light wire around the ear shape wire along the inside of one ear, where the horn adjoins. Yes, I know you just hot glued those together, but you are going to have a lot of flowers, and things going on there, so just run the wire up to where the hot glue stops at the horn/ear junction and start wrapping there.
  6. Wrap tightly all the way around the wire ear shape, then around the headband as you work back across toward the other ear.
  7. Tack this wire on the headband down with hot glue. This will further strengthen the ears and horns, as they’re all adjoining.
  8. Once you reach the other ear, wrap it just as you did the previous.photo tutorial of how to put lights on mickey ears jasmine
  9. Leave some loose light string dangling as we’ll use it later. Wrap the extra, un-lit wire onto the back of the controller (the side without screws) and tack in place with a few drops of hot glue. You can see how much I wrapped up in the pictures or video.
  10. Hot glue the controller box onto the back of the horns, with the screw side exposed so that you can change out the batteries..
  11. To make the genie lamp, cut out the printable template and lay on the back of gold glitter foam sheet. Trace lamp shape again, but flip it over so that you’re tracing the mirror shape. Cut lamp shapes out of the gold glitter foam sheet. Peel the paper off the back of each lamp shape and stick the two sticky sides together, trimming any exposed edges.
  12. Hot glue the lamp to an ear, a little higher than the middle of the ear.
  13. To make the Princess Jasmine ear, wrap the teal blue tulle ribbon snugly around the other side of the ear about 5 times.
  14. Pinch the center of the tulle tightly and tie (with a dab of hot glue to hold it) with a thin strip of tulle.
  15. Make a circle of the gold ribbon braid that is just large enough to be seen around the edges of the gem when placed behind the gem. Hot glue into this circle.
  16. Affix the gold braid circle onto the back of the gem with hot glue. Hot glue the gold-braid-adorned gem onto the center of the tulle pinched shirt. photo collage tutorial of how to make diy glow in the dark mickey ears princess jasmine
  17. Trim all flower stems to ¼-inch long, both for consistency and so they don’t stick out from the ears very much. Affix the white roses along the bottom of each ear.
  18. Hot glue one big peony flower on the front of the ears between the horns, kind of as a “centerpiece” of the flower crown. Fill in any area around, below and across the headband to the far side of each ear with the fill-in teal blue flowers by hot gluing them in place. To get a more organic look, mix your flowers up and don’t look at where you’re placing them until you put them down.
  19. Flip the ears and hot glue flowers on the back of the ears, corresponding with the front side.
  20. Fill in any holes with filler flowers. Be sure to cover the controller of the lights, but leave access to the switch and screws by gluing the flowers around the controller box.
  21. With hot glue, tack the dangling light string into the flowers and even stick the last one on the string into your peony flower. photo collage tutorial of how to make diy light-up mickey ears princess jasmine
