Tips for Making Gnome Bottle Covers

Use a sweater sleeve to make this craft less than 10 minutes. It’s so easy and you can find them at thrift stores or in your closet.
If you have it, Mongolian fur is my favorite for this project because it’s a long-pile and is so luxurious. You can get the faux fur here in 10×10 inch cuts so you’re not left with tons of fur.
A few ideas for gnome noses: wood balls, wood beads, pompoms, wool felt balls, corks, and even cotton fabric stuffed with Poly Fill and drawn into a ball.
To make this easy Easter craft even more fluffy, use faux fur as the ear inserts.
Be sure to put something in between the sleeve so that no hot glue seeps through.

Make a DIY Gnome Bottle Topper for Easter

Easter Gnome Bottle Topper

This adorable gnome bottle topper is perfect for an Easter gift or to decorate as part of your Easter decor.

Materials

Old Sweater (we will use a sleeve)
Mongolian Fur in White
White Pompom
White Stiff Felt
Wood Ball (I used 1/2 inch)
Embroidery Thread in Gray
Decorative Flowers

Tools

Bottle (I used a wine bottle)
Exacto Knife
Scissors and / or Rotary Cutter
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Instructions

Slip the sleeve of the sweater over a wine bottle to determine the height desired for the hat. Cut the sleeve from the sweater and turn inside out.
Measure two inches from the wrist portion of the sleeve and cut a triangle from there to the top of the opposite side of the sleeve. Set aside the cast off to be used on another gnome project.
Use a hot glue gun and glue sticks (or a sewing machine) to secure the open edge of the hat. Set aside to let dry. Once dry, turn right sides out, use scissors to press out the tip of the hat, and then turn inside out again.
Cut a portion of Mongolian fur 3.5 inches wide by 2 inches high using the Exacto knife to cut only the fabric backing of the fur. Fold the rectangle of fur in the center and split the fur to the fabric backing.
Add a generous portion of hot glue about 1/2 inch down from the top edge of the fur and press the nose into it. Let dry and glue to the inside of the front of the hat, taking care to place something in between the hat layers so no glue transfers through.
Turn the hat and beard right sides out and add a pompom to the back in the center.
Cut 3 inches of the gray embroidery thread and split it until you have two sets of two threads each. Glue them to the underside of the nose.
Cut ear shapes from white, stiff felt and the same (but smaller) from the sweater material. Glue the smaller ear inserts onto the white felt ears. Glue ears to the hat, centering the nose in the middle.
Decorate with small flowers and slip the gnome bottle topper onto the bottle.
