Easter Bunny Gnome
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I like to put together small holiday displays on tiered trays, on tables, and in bookcases. Tucking seasonal items in is just an easy way to keep decorating time to a minimum.
Because while I’m always excited to set out the new holiday decor, I’m never as thrilled to put it all away.
For my Easter decor this year, I have two trays, two small tables, and one shelf I want to put a few seasonal pieces on. Because my craft stash is overflowing, I decided to challenge myself with items I could find only in my craft room. I cleaned up an area of my craft room, found this glove, a Dollar Tree sock (have no idea where the other one is), and this guy came together.

Tips for Making a Glove Gnome Bunny
- I found this fuzzy glove and the ankle sock at the Dollar Tree, but always keep your eyes out for clearance items at the end of the season. The craft stores have some amazing finds when holidays change and gloves can make great gnome hats.
- My preference is to add the twisted pipe cleaners at the end of the bunny gnome making process, however, you can do it when you wish. The only advice I have is to glue them to the base of the body only and leave the top unglued because the ears look better.
- If you’re new to cutting faux fur, here are my basic tips: make sure all pile points down, draw on the fabric backing, use an Exacto knife, and only cut the fabric backing. There is no need to press hard. Are you a visual person? If so, watch this video on how to cut faux fur.
- Do not cut the top of the sock for this gnome because we want it to help smooth out that bunny head and sides of the gnome. Those bunny ears need to stand out.
- Weight and fill for gnomes can vary based on what you have on hand and what you’re comfortable with. I prefer not to use food products, so a sock with rice or beans is out for me. I’ll link everything I use below, but a few more ideas for weight are aquarium gravel (very small rocks), sand in a bag, or even glass vase filler. For the fill, use the inside of inexpensive pillows or clean stuffed animals.

DIY Easter Gnome with a Glove and Sock
This adorable DIY Easter gnome is made with a glove and a sock - no sewing necessary. Gather up a few craft room staples and you can make this bunny with bendable ears in just minutes.
Materials
- Glove
- Ankle Sock
- White Mongolian Fur
- Nose (I used a 1/2“ Wood Ball)
- Embroidery Thread
- Pipe Cleaners (2)
- Poly Pellets
- Poly Fill
- Cardboard for a Base, optional
Tools
- Exacto Knife
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Pen
Instructions
- Turn the glove inside out. Cut the thumb and pinky finger off the glove. Cut the middle finger off at the base of the finger. Set middle finger aside for a different project like my mini gnome ornaments.
- Glue the glove sides and middle finger closed.
- Turn the thumb right sides out and fill it with the glove’s pinky finger. Form into a round and glue at the base. Cut off the excess thumb fabric. Set aside.
- Trace a 2-3 inch circle onto cardboard, cut out, and glue to the inside of the sock. Make sure the toe seam is pulled up over the cardboard so it sits flat.
- Add about 1/2 cup of Poly Pellets and fill the rest full of Poly Fill until you have a few inches of the top of the sock left. Tie off and roll down the excess onto the body.
- Double over a pipe cleaner, twisting it upon itself to make it sturdier. Repeat with the other pipe cleaner and set aside.
- Turn the glued glove right sides out and slide onto the gnome body, taking care to pull the glove down to cover the entire sock gnome. Glue the glove to the sock gnome body.
- Create the beard by measuring to your specifications (mine was a U-shape, 3 inches wide by 4 inches high) and using the pen to draw your shape on the back of the fur fabric. Cut out the fur with the craft knife, taking care to only cut the fabric backing.
- Glue down 1/4 inch of the top edge of the beard to make it look nice. Brush up the top of the beard fur, split the fur to the fabric backing, and add the wood ball. Cut two pieces of 3 inch thread and tuck up under nose with glue.
- Cut two 1/2-3/4 inch pieces from the fur to accent the ears. Glue them to the base of the ears on the gnome, making sure the fur is pointing up.
- Glue the tail to the center back of the Easter gnome and the beard to the front. Cut the back of each ear and insert a pipe cleaner, securing the bottom only to the body before closing up the opening.
