Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I love making and sharing how to make bath fizzies and no-fail bath bombs. My daughter’s sensitive skin led to making fun, colorful, and usable DIY bath products. We’ve had a lot of fun around here making Disney princess bath bombs like these Rapunzel bath bombs and these colorful Snow White bath fizzies.

Tips to Make a Cinderella Bath Fizzy

• Be generous with the cosmetic-grade glitter! When else can you let kids play with glitter and they’ll immediately be able to get it off them?! But please don’t substitute craft glitter – it’s not safe for any bath product.
• Allow your Cinderella bath fizzy to dry a minimum of 24 hours. If your climate is wet or cold, plan on letting them dry for an additional 24 hours. My rule of thumb is that when your Cinderella bath bombs are hard to the touch, they are ready for the tub!
• There is an ingredient which is optional, Polysorbate 80. The purpose of this emulsifier is to limit the oils and butters from pooling at the top of the water, as well as to reduce mica from adhering to the walls of the tub.
• Store your princess bath bombs in an airtight container until ready for use. The moisture in the air can make it less fizzy when the time comes to pop it in the bath.

These Cinderella bath bombs have enough sparkle to match your little princess. Let's make a batch using our no-fail bath bomb recipe.

Materials

• 2 cups baking soda
• 1 cup citric acid
• 1/4 cup cornstarch
• 1/4 cup Epsom salts
• 1/3 cup coconut oil
• 1 tablespoon polysorbate 80, optional
• Rose essential oil
• Geranium essential oil (got it on Amazon)
• Blue mica powder (I buy them on Amazon, too)
• White mica powder
• Blue cosmetic glitter (I bought this fun set here)
• Blue cosmetic glitter

Tools

• Stainless steel bath bomb molds (I use these)
• Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
• 1 large mixing bowl

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts and cornstarch. Whisk dry ingredients together.
2. Add the coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so you bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them!
3. Add the polysorbate 80. This helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bath water, makes the bath bombs bubbly and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.
4. Add the essential oils.
5. Add 1 tablespoon of the white mica and white cosmetic glitter into one of the small bowls and the blue mica and blue cosmetic glitter into the other small bowl. 
6. Mix colors into mixture thoroughly. Add a bit more color if the mixture is too light. Continue to add a bit and mix until you get the color you want. 
7. Whisk the ingredients together and conservatively spray the mix with the rubbing alcohol. Fully incorporate after every spray and use your hands to break down any lumps. The mixture is ready when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand. Separate mixture into five bowls. 
8. Add blue mixture into one side of the mold and the white into the other. Layer alternating colors until molds are overflowing. Press molds together and grind to remove excess mixture. Gently tap each side of the mold to release the bombs.
9. Leave the bath bombs to dry for at least 24 hours. If you live in a humid environment, leave them for another day.

Notes

To ensure you don't get dents on the bottom of your bath bombs, drape a dish towel over a muffin tin and set each bath bomb into a cavity. Turn them every few hours and they will be spherical.
