Did you know that Americans eat 24 pounds of candy each year? In honor of Halloween candy stashes and waistlines everywhere, I’ll save you the calories and give you the clever candy crafts and the creative candy trivia!
This week, I’ll be hosting the oh-so-popular #TriviaScope night on Periscope. It’s a ton of fun and you can actually win cash towards a coffee or your next amazon.com purchase – I’ll be giving away a $5 gift card (your choice of one)! If you don’t have the Periscope app on your phone or tablet, you can still play along for fun by going here on your computer or device.
But let’s say you’re here for candy crafts along with some candy trivia. Before we take a look at some of my favorite candy-themed bits of candy craft creativity, first a bit of trivia…
Skittles: This is me, shaking my head. Naughty, naughty Skittles. It turns out, Skittles stole the WRONG recipe which is how we got these fruity, chewy treats.
It’s still wrong, Skittles.
What You'll Find On This Page
Candy Crafts: Drink
Did you know Skittles can be used to make colored, flavored vodka, rum, or just about any other adult beverage mixer you can think of? Hello, Christmas gifts! I’m sure we’ve all see the tutorial that takes weeks, but here’s the tutorial to make a quick Skittles vodka recipe in just 24 hours.
This is so happening. Who wants to be on my holiday gift list this year?
Candy Crafts: Halloween Peeps
Although many think candy corn is the most dreadful candy the frightfully sweet holiday has ever given us, I happen to believe the most vile confection invented is something far more loved by the masses: Peeps.
I. Don’t. Do. Peeps.
Anyone – everyone – who knows me knows that Peeps FREAK ME OUT. Because there is no denying they’re super-duper adorable, however, instead of eating them I think they’d be oodles better when turned into this Halloween Peeps Topiary.
Candy Crafts: For the Kids
If you think the Halloween candy stash should be pared down (even more so than the ‘few’ you sneaked from the kid’s stash), try re-purposing some of that candy for an upcoming holiday. How cute would these be nestled in a stocking?
I’m doing this… If
I have my daughter has any candy leftover… I’m not kidding anyone, I’ll just go buy more candy to make these.
If you’d like to play an online trivia game right now, check out this one whose answers are either M & M’s or Skittles. With a 50/50 chance, what’s to lose?
