Camping Scavenger Hunt for Preschoolers

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, I create a lot of free freebies like printable scavenger hunts, coloring pages and crafts, and even printable games. Having a skill in digital design does come in handy raising small children.

Let the little ones have a fun outdoor scavenger hunt while you’re setting up the tent or unpacking the car. This scavenger hunt for preschoolers and elementary-aged kids will be easy for them to ‘read.’ I’ve included the word underneath the picture for early readers.

This set has two versions of this camping themed scavenger hunt: a coloring page version and a completed colored page. My daughter likes to color, so we often take these with us, but it might be a good idea to bring both.

Scavenger Hunt Clues for Kids – Readers and Early Readers

The second camping scavenger hunt I’ve included is for older kids. There are some tricky and harder to find items on this list.

Older kids will rely on their reading skill – if you need a picture-heavy scavenger hunt, use the one above. Both are included in the download.

Scavenger Hunt Ideas for Kids While Camping

Use this camping scavenger hunt as part of a camping kit. Print off the three pages – the colored scavenger hunt, the coloring page camping scavenger hunt, and the text-driven hunt (for older kids or readers). Let the kids decide which one they’d like to use and send them off!

In campgrounds, it’ll be fairly easy to find these items for the younger version. The older kids might have to go on short hikes to find all of the items on their lists. Tell them to look up, down, and even under!

You could set up teams – or let the kids choose them – or have everyone on a team by themselves.
