Make This Baby Yoda Ornament for a Fun Mandalorian Christmas Ornament
As a special request from my kiddo, we made this Baby Yoda ornament to add to our Star Wars ornament collection and it’s so cute, I want to keep it forever!

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, we LOVED this season of the Mandalorian and can’t wait for more – and all the fabulous spinoffs. It’s something we look forward to as a family. So when the kiddo asked if we could make a Baby Yoda ornament, I was all over it like a fly on bantha rump.

Tips to Make a Mandalorian Christmas Ornament
- Grab a little 2-inch terra cotta pot like these. I used the same ones to make a couple of different ornaments, so you can get a whole set and have plenty to make unique ornaments throughout the holiday break.
- Don’t think of this DIY Baby Yoda ornament as only a Christmas thing. I mean, come on, it’s Grogu here – he’s good for anytime. Although these are definitely perfect Christmas ornaments, they also would make fun elements for a door hanger for the kiddo or a fun little addition to your desk decor.
- If you want your Mandalorian Christmas ornament to last and not be covered in scratches as it gets with handled, I recommend sealing your ornament with mod podge after you’re done painting.
How Do I Make this Baby Yoda Ornament?
I’m so glad you asked. Below is our written tutorial.
Baby Yoda Ornament
When the kiddo asked for a Baby Yoda ornament for the tree, how could I say no?! If you know anything about our love of Star Wars, you know made a Mandalorian ornament right that minute!
Materials
- 1 - 2-inch Terra Cotta Pot
- Green Acrylic Paint
- Gold Acrylic Paint
- Black Paint Pen
- 1 Green Chenille Wire
- 1 Tiny Red Bell
- White Embroidery Thread
- 1 Ornament Hanger
- Scraps Pink Felt
Tools
- Painter’s Tape
- Paint Brush
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters/Pliers
- Pencil
Instructions
- Turn your pot upside down. With the painter's tape, cover the bottom 1/4 of the pot.
- Cover the non-taped portion of the pot with your green paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Carefully remove the painter's tape then cover the unpainted portion of pot gold. Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Cut the green chenille wire in half. Using one half portion of the chenille wire, fold it in half, then twist the ends together to join them. Using your pliers, pull each side of the folded chenille wire outward, making a long and thin football shape. Set this piece aside and repeat making a matching shape with the remaining half chenille wire.
- Lay one of the football shaped chenille wires, onto the pink felt and trace the shape necessary to cover the interior with the pink felt. Cut the pink felt shape out and glue it to the back of the chenille wire football shape. Repeat with the second ear.
- Hot glue each of the ear shapes to one side of the pot, midway up the green portion of the pot.
- Draw Baby Yoda’s eyes, smile and eyebrows onto the center of the green portion of the pot.
- Thread a bell onto a small length of embroidery thread then thread the two ends of the embroidery thread through the hole in the top of the pot. Tie the two ends of the embroidery thread onto your ornament hanger and hot glue the embroidery thread in place on the inside of the pot. Hang on the tree and enjoy!
