Ariel Mouse Ears
Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, my daughter loves the fun songs and colorful characters in the The Little Mermaid. One of her first rides at Disneyland was Ariel’s Undersea Adventure… and then we rode it another 12 times before we left.
These Ariel mouse ears are a quick, fun craft little ones can make themselves. Note: we used a glue gun because I was helping, however, craft glue works just as well. It does, however, take quite a bit more time to dry.

Tips to Make Ariel Minnie Ears
- Keep in mind that although your kiddos can certainly stack on as many shells as they’d like on their Ariel Minnie ears. It will make the ears a bit heavier, so you might recommend just a couple of shells.
- It can be hard for us mamas to let the kids do it on their own. When their circles aren’t perfect and they ask for help, you be the judge of fixing it or leaving it. I chose to leave it because I wanted my daughter to do this from start to finish on her own.
- If you have scraps of foam, felt, or fabric, all will work for this project. Be sure to raid the craft bins before heading to the store.

Ariel Mouse Ears
These adorable Ariel mouse ears are so easy, they're a perfect craft for kids on a lazy weekend afternoon. You can have them whipped-up and done in just a few minutes.
Materials
- Felt in the following colors: cream, red, green sparkle, light purple sparkle
- shells
- cardboard
- headband
Tools
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- scissors
- circular object to trace (about 3.5 - 4 inches in diameter)
- pencil
Instructions
- Trace a your template circle onto two pieces of cardboard or thick card stock paper.
- Use those to trace 2 pieces of cream felt and 2 pieces of green sparkle felt, leaving a small perimeter of about 1/4-inch to act as a seam allowance.
- Sandwich one of the cardboard pieces between the two cream felt pieces and hot glue into place. Do not press on the felt where the hot glue is, just let it rest on top. Set aside to dry and repeat the process with the green sparkle felt.
- Use one of the cream pieces of felt as a template for size, and make a top for Ariel. Flip the purple felt over and sketch a heart shape for the top and about an inch and a half tall piece to form the ‘shells.’ It should reach to either side of the cream felt. Cut it out and hot glue it to the cream ear.
- Snip off the bottom of each ear to make a flat surface - only about 1-1.5 inches wide. Hot glue the ears to the headband.
- Secure shells in front with a spot of hot glue.
- Enjoy!
