So we’ve definitely been busy…
We got to have our lifestyle session with Jos and Tree – it was so much fun! We got to break the law and climb on things we most likely weren’t supposed to, run around in the industrial district (where I actually spend quite a bit of time for work) and we even got to take pictures at my favorite bridge here in Bridge City, The St. John’s Bridge. It was eight hours and two clothing changes (yes, one was in the back of Tree’s car), but we think there are going to be some great shots. He is an amazing photographer and she has quite the eye so we’re hoping they made us look FAB-U-LOUS!
We selected an exquisite baker for our bridal and groom’s cakes: La Jaconde Cakes here in Portland. She is German and uses only German ingredients and the results are unbelievable. We selected her because she was very knowledgeable, brought some unbelievably odd but delicious combinations, and her cakes aren’t uber-sweet like some other bakers. I mean come on, we want to actually make it through a piece of cake without having to down a gallon of water to wash away the sweet! I don’t want to say what flavors we’ve chosen, but they are definitely memorable. For those of you who love dark chocolate (in my opionion, nearly the nastiest thing on the planet that people consume willingly), we also have something quite up your alley!
Jeff has selected his suit and I have given him only one condition – the ties must be in some variation of the Apple color we chose for Bec’s dress. We’ll see how that goes…
I’ve lost a bit of weight and that’s great but it also stinks because I might be using binder clips to make the dress fit as well as it should… Not sure, but I think I can spray paint them white so no one will even notice…
Although this doesn’t sound like it would need an update, trust me – this is one of the hardest things to put together when you don’t buy it. If I had one piece of advice to anyone doing this: just buy all the darn stationary and don’t make it yourself. Save the few months it takes and save yourself the papercuts. I have everything done except the menu cards as we have yet to select the food (coming up on September 3rd).
This reminds me that I’m actually supposed to schedule an appointment with them this week. I’ll get to that just as soon as I update this for Mom.
Oh yeah – like we were going to leave anything that important to chance! That’s in the bag. Jeff took care of this and trust me, that boy needs the beach vacation, so I knew it was handled.
I’ll try and update more but I have to work now.
