Our Wedding

We finally found the box that housed all of our back up DVDs for our wedding and the birth of our daughter! I’m sharing our wedding pictures today – come over and check it all out with tons of beautiful photos.

Portland Wedding

All photos were taken by Jos and Tree with Jos Studios, based out of Portland, Oregon. If you’re looking to invest in your photographs, I couldn’t recommend them more.

Sorry about the language in this one, but Jeff bought all the guys these flasks. This is our officiant (and one of Jeff’s best friends) showing off his gift. Below is the dashing husband showing off his boutonnière.

How We Met

A week after I moved to Seattle from the East Coast, a (not my) manager friend said, “I know someone you should meet,” to which I simply replied, “No.” I kept my professional and personal lives separate from one another and I was immovable on the point.

Six months later, the same manager friend set up a dinner, invited us, and sat us next together. Crafty fella, eh? Again, I kept work separate from my personal life, so although we had a great time enjoying each other’s company, we left with no plans. I was immovable on the point.

One year later, my husband started asking me out. I kept saying no, smiling and flirting while I said it, but that guy just didn’t give up. I’m so glad he was persistent and that I was not immovable.

Our Engagement

I share our engagement story in this post in detail, but basically the guy was extremely crafty, somewhat traditional, and we laughed. Oh, and had an amazing audience.

The Dress

I chose my dress in about 20 minutes – I wasn’t that interested that part of the wedding. Weird, right? I did, however, immensely enjoy all the pampering and make up sessions.

The Location

Neither of us wanted a huge wedding, even though we could have invited at least 500 people we know and love. We limited it to very close friends and family, topping out at a max of 50 people because we wanted to have a 5-star experience. We chose the wine cellar space because it was intimate and they paid such close attention to all the small details.

The Cakes

We hired a German baker who knocked it out of the park. Cake testing was my favorite part of the whole planning process. Jeff decided he would like a chocolate on chocolate on chocolate on chocolate something-or-other cake. I didn’t eat a lot of chocolate back then, so I honestly have no idea what kind of cake that was.

For the wedding cake, we chose a traditional white chocolate raspberry for a layer and a unique lavender pear for another. It. Was. So. Good. How Good? This good.

The Flowers

The flowers we carried or wore were simple: roses accented with stephanotis and ferns. I forgot to pull the photos of the reception area before I packed up the DVDs with the photos, but all of the tables had different arrangements and that’s where the fun with flowers came in. We used creams and greens and gave the florist the artistic freedom she was known for. Hydrangeas, ferns, succulents, roses, and so many beautiful blooms were showcased in varying arrangements.

My amazing husband proposed while we were on a trip to Panama, visiting my parents (who retired there). It was hilarious and so sweet.

  1. I was there for the proposal (obviously, since I am one of the parental units that live in the rain / cloud forest in Panama) and it was a riot. Not only did Sarah seem disappointed that she got a beat up book, but Jeff had sealed it so well that she needed a butter knife to wedge it open again. A great event that her Dad slept through – too much Christmas food and drink, I suppose.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous photos! That one of you in the street is fantastic! I love hearing love stories and then especially hearing about weddings! You had the same kind of cake I did. That is my favorite flavor. Although I never actually ate any at my wedding. That’s another story for another day, but your dress was gorgeous! What a great proposal, he sounds like a keeper!

  3. Gorgeous photos! And can I please have some of that cake??
I love the little moose heads on the wall – I’d have any event there just for that.

  4. Love that you chose an intimate celebration! And your photos are gorgeous. Sounds like a beautiful day.

  5. Your pictures are gorgeous… and you’re a stunning bride!

I loved your dress – 20 minutes hey?! Wow!

Loved the roses. I had white roses with greenery – I love roses.

Thanks for sharing this trip down memory lane.
    xoxo

  6. Sounds like you had a very enjoyable day and I love the photos. The dress hunting wasn’t for me either and I chose my dress rather quickly as well. Loving the flowers that you chose and for someone who chose their dress so quickly, you looked amazing on your big day.
