Foot Soak Recipes

With regards to beauty and bath products, I’m currently in the “Why would I pay for a these when I can make my own for pennies?” phase. Join me as I share not one, but three foot soak recipes to have you pampering yourself (or others) in 10 minutes or less.

Foot Soaks Ruffles and Rain Boots

Foot soaks are great when gifted in a jar with a scoop, but are also well-received when given in smaller, or even single use jars. Speaking of gifting them, use anything you can find to store these in. Small hermetic jars keep moisture out well, but you can use mini mason jars, larger candy jars, or preserve jars. In related news, I used the last of my strawberry-guava jam from Hawaii and I’m thinking a trip is in order to replenish my supply.

Lemon Mint “Smoothing” Blend Foot Soak

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
  • lemon and mint essential oils (8-10 drops total)
  • mint leaves (optional)
  • dried lemon peel (optional)

I dried out my peels in a 200 degree (F) oven for about 10 minutes before adding them to my foot soak. Because this is being bottled, I wanted to limit the amount of moisture in the mix.

Foot soaks can also be made into fizzy foot soaks (a.k.a. mini bath bombs) using a brownie bites pan. In order to do that, visit my recipes for bath bombs and alter the ingredients: no-fail bath bomb recipe, detoxifying recipe, or my favorite, the moisturizing recipe.

  5. Hello my thrifty sister, I am right there with you! How can I even think to pay 10.00 for something that would cost me about a buck to make? Glad you didn’t include the Listerine foot soak…….

    1. Haha – the Listerine, AKA “Blue Feet” soak… I will never forget that, Jen. I’m snorting while being forever grateful that you tested that (and not me)! :)

  6. Wow! These sound great! I’m always looking for ways to soften and smooth my feet. They would also make great gifts! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you for the pin, Tara. I definitely recommend the lavender one – it’s my favorite right now.

  10. I am in need of this! I think all Mama’s are, this may be something I try and fit in and do for myself in the next few days.

    1. Girl – me too! I am working on a couple scrubs right now too, because I just know my heels are going to need them.

  11. Haha! Yep, I feel the same way!!!! My footies definitely could use a soak! I am feeling some lavender right now! :D

    1. A silly thing: I disliked lavender for years (and years, and years) until recently. I can’t buy anything lavender-scented in the store because it smells so chemically (is that a word?). Making things with high quality essential oil though makes all the difference!
